Classroom:Gunning has excelled in the classroom since her arrival at Coastal as she maintains a 3.847 GPA in communications with a journalism minor. She was named to the Dean's List her first semester (Spring 2006) and has been a President's List honoree ever since. Her expected graduation date is May of 2008 (finishing up her thesis in the spring) and her goal is to be a sports reporter. In the fall she will help out with the local ABC affiliate.
Character:Gunning has been a team captain both of her seasons at Coastal Carolina and demonstrated those leadership qualities on and off the field. She has overcome multiple concussions to get back on the field and has thrived on the pitch. Off the field she served as a Teacher's Assistant last spring, is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is the Student Advisory Committee Secretary for Edwards College (Humanities and Fine Arts).
Competition:Gunning was a First Team All-Big South and All-Big South Tournament honoree in 2006 after helping Coastal to a 13-6-1 record. She led the conference with 22 points and tied for the lead with 10 goals. Adding in her two goals in the season opener this year, Gunning is sixth all-time in Coastal history with 12 career goals. She has scored two goals in a game three times in her career and has one game-winning goal.
