Statistics:
Classroom:Sherard is majoring in geography and has entered the fall of 2007 on track to graduate.
Character:Sherard is the vocal leader and captain of the Carolina team. He is extremely competitive and is always willing to go the extra mile to help his teammates. Sherard is the only starter returning from the Tar Heels’ backline from the previous season.
Community:He participates in youth clinics in the Chapel Hill area and around the state with the UNC team. He has participated in the “Share Your Holiday” program in which Carolina student-athletes deliver presents to area families in need. He has participated and volunteered in many other community service projects through the athletic department.
Competition:Sherard is a two-time All-ACC and all-region choice at defender. He has been selected as a Preseason All-America by Soccer America and College Soccer News. He has been announced as a Candidate for the MAC Hermann Trophy this senior season. While with the Tar Heels, he has been a two-time UNC team MVP. Sherard has started 65 of a possible 67 games over the last four seasons and has helped the Tar Heels to 29 shutouts over this stretch.
