Classroom:Folk was named an honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic selection in both 2006 and 2005. He is on the UCLA Director's Honor Roll with a 3.22 cumulative GPA. He is an economics major who is expected to graduate in 2008.
Character:On a team with 12 freshmen and just two seniors in 2006, Folk stepped up in a leadership role as a junior and helped bring the team all the way to the NCAA title game. In 2007 as a senior, Folk is team co-captain and sets a great example to his teammates with his hard work, consistency and versatility. Folk has had just four yellow cards and zero red cards in his three-plus years. In addition, Folk took on a leadership role with the U.S. National Team at the 2007 Pan American Games, serving as team captain.
Competition:Folk is one of two team captains for the 2007 Bruins, who started the year as the pre-season No. 1 team. Folk has played a variety of different positions at midfield and defense and was one of three UCLA players to start in all 24 games in 2006. He earned UCLA's Coaches Award as a junior and led the team in minutes played, playing in every minute of every game while leading the Bruins to the NCAA Championship game. In his career leading into his senior year, he has played in 51 games with 43 starts. In the summer of 2005, he helped lead the U.S. Under-18 National Team to the Milk Cup Championship.
