Classroom:Majoring in psychology, Van de Ven has been honored on the President's List at FSU (4.0 GPA each semester) in the spring & fall semesters of 2006. She was named to the 2006 All-ACC Academic Team, while being honored on the ACC Academic Honor Roll during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.
Character:Van de Ven is an outstanding student-athlete. She is well respected, hardworking and cares about her academics, athletics as well as her involvement in the community in a very positive way.
Community:Van de Ven is actively involved with a number of community organizations both in Tallahassee and in her native country of the Netherlands. At home, she works with causes such as: Relay For Life - a university sponsored event for cancer survivors as well as fundraising for cancer research; Making cards and posters for FCAT testing - providing encouragement to the kids before their test; and Elderly home visits - interacting with the elderly in various events and activities at local senior living homes. During the off season she works at soccer camps in her native country of the Netherlands - providing instructional tips to young, aspiring soccer players.
Competition:Through the first four games of the 2007 season Van de Ven has started at the midfield position for Florida State tallying over 300 minutes of action, including a goal and seven shots. In 2006, she took over the holding midfield role and played in 24 games, starting 19 including 11 straight. She finished the season with five points, including a goal and three assists. In 2005, Van de Van started 17 games before suffering a knee injury versus Cal in the NCAA Tournament.
